Go-no go differentiation to visual stimuli in cats with different early visual experiences.

چکیده
In a previous paper (1) it was found that in cats deprived from birth of pattern vision with hoods, simultaneous object discrimination was dramatically impaired. In this paper go-no go differentiation is studied in such cats. The specific details of the methodology have been elaborated previously (1). The experiments were performed on 13 cats bred in the laboratory. The 8-th day after the birth the eyes of 6 kittens were hooded by double sheets of linen (H cats). The other animals served as controls (N* cats; the asterisk indicates that cats reared in the laboratory are not completely normal, see 1). After 4 or 5 weeks of permanently covered eyes with the hoods, the H cats were placed for a half an hour daily in a play-box with the hood removed. Inside either two sticks of unpainted wood (cats Hs) or two ping-pong balls (cats Hb) were present (Fig. 1). Such training in the unpainted boxes lasted for 2 months, after which animals continued to be hooded, and they were subjected to gc+ no go differentiation training.

P300 Component Modulation During a Go/Nogo Task in Healthy Children
ABSTRACT Introduction: Several differences in the P300 component are observed when responses must be executed or inhibited in the Go/Nogo task. However, few studies were established by using well-controlled task with respect to the preparatory processing and stimulus probability. In the present study, we examined the peak amplitude and latency of Go-P300 (P300 evoked by visual Go stimuli) and N...
متن کاملAn fMRI study of human visual cortex in response to spatiotemporal properties of visual stimuli
ABSTRACT Background: The brain response to temporal frequencies (TF) has been already reported, but with no study reported for different TF with respect to various spatial frequencies (SF). Materials and Methods: fMRI was performed by 1.5T GE-system in 14 volunteers during checkerboard, with TFs of 4, 6, 8 and 10Hz in low and high SFs of 0.5 and 8cpd. Results: Average percentage BOLD signa...
متن کاملGo-no go avoidance reflex differentiation and its retention after prefrontal lesion in cats.
Cats were trained in a go-no go differentiation of two acoustic stimuli (click versus tone) using the bar-pressing avoidance method. The quality of the conditioned stimuli exerted a clear effect on the rapidity of the avoidance reflex acquisition and on the proportions of short-latency bar-pressing responses executed in positive and in inhibitory trials. Removal of the proreal and orbital gyri ...
متن کاملQuality of stimuli and prefrontal lesions effects on reversal learning in go-no go avoidance reflex differentiation in cats.
Go no go avoidance reflex differentiation of two acoustic stimuli has been previously established in cats. Then the signalling properties of the conditioned stimuli were reversed and the course of acquisition of a new go-no go differentiation was studied in normal cats and in cats with prefrontal lesions. The hypothesis based on stimulus intensity dynamism theory was: (i) in normal cats acqui...
متن کاملStimulus modality, perceptual overlap, and the go/no-go N2.
Stimuli that elicit a prepotent but incorrect response are typically associated with an enhanced electrophysiological N2 that is thought to index the operation of a control process such as inhibition or conflict detection. However, recent studies reporting the absence of the N2 modulation in go/no-go tasks involving auditory stimuli challenge this view: It is not clear why inhibition or conflic...
